The history of the Wal(c)ker family traces back via the patrician family “Becht” from Reutlingen and the “Lords of Pfullingen” (belonging to the Swabian lower nobility) to “Walther of Pfullingen” (born around the year 995 AD):
- Walther of Pfullingen (* around 995)
- Egilolf of Pfullingen had two sons: Kuno of Pfullingen († 1066, see Wikipedia) and …
- Rudolf of Pfullingen (†️ 1109)
- Ruodiger of Pfullingen (* around 1100, †️ um 1141)
- Adalbert of Pfullingen (* around 1140), also known as Berthold
- Walter of Pfullingen (* around 1180, †️ 1276)
- Waltehrus of Bahto (Baihte) and of Bondorfer (Becht) (1210–1267), also called Becht or Bächt, was judge at Bebenhausen Abbey (see Wikipedia). He is the progenitor of the patrician family Becht from Reutlingen.
- Albrecht de Rutelingen (1240–1316), also known as Albert, was judge and mayor in Reutlingen.
- Friedrich Becht I (1279–1337) was judge and mayor in Reutlingen.
He was married to Merlint Becht née Golgge (1294–1337), daughter of Cunrat Golgge (* 1268) from Tübingen and his wife Haile Golgge née Walgger (1272–1349). This is the first occurrence of the name “Walgger”. They had 9 children together, one of them … - Walgger Golgge Becht (1316–1386) was judge, city council and he was the mayor or Reutlingen for 23 years.
Walgger Golgge Becht was father of 8 children (7 sons and one daughter). He is the origin of our Wal(c)ker families. He most likely got his given names “Golgge” and “Walgger” from his maternal line (Golgge family) and his grandmother (Haile Golgge née Walgger) respectively. Such a inheritance of names was quite common at those times.
In this place of history the Wal(c)kers split into different lineages, which can all be traced back to Walgger Golgge Becht. Especially two sons of Walgger Golgge are important:
- Golk Hans Walcker was the one who first used a goose or a swan (family coat of arms) in 1426. His descendants are the progenitors of the lineage of Balingen as well as the lineages Kirchentellinsfurt A and B.
- Wilhelm Golke Walcker (1340–1408) married to Ursula of Andelfingen (1345–1400). Various of his descendants are the progenitors of the lineages Kirchentellinsfurt C to H around the year 1600.
More information about the various Wal(c)ker lineages can be found on the page from 14th until 16th century.
